Die Angewandte Physische Geographie will die Fähigkeiten und das Wissen der Physischen Geographie außeruniversitär verwerten und anwenden. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei gesell-schaftlich relevante
Probleme der Verfügbarkeit, Gefährdung und nachhaltigen Nutzung natür-licher Ressourcen (insbesondere Wasser), auch unter Einsatz moderner Methoden der Infor-mationsverarbeitung (z.B. KI, ML).
Entsprechend soll die Professur für Angewandte Physische Geographie die Verknüpfung der universitären Forschung und Lehre mit der Praxis fördern, um die Studierenden schon im Rahmen des Studiums
an ihren Beruf heranzuführen. Die Stel-leninhaberin/der Stelleninhaber soll dafür nicht nur über eine methodische und fachlich Breite verfügen, sondern soll sich auch durch eine starke Vernetzung
in die Praxis ausweisen kön-nen.

The aim of Applied Physical Geography is to apply skills and knowledge from physical geography to non-academic fields. A main focus will be placed on socially relevant topics such as the threats
facing natural resources (especially water), as well as the availability and sustainable use thereof, while applying the latest data processing tools (e.g., artificial intelligence, machine
learning). The new professor of applied physical geography will link university research and education with practical applications, preparing the students for future professional
responsibilities. As such, the holder of the professorship should not only have a broad range of interdisciplinary skills, but should also have a strong professional network in place.
Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field of applied physical geography, environmental hydrology, and resource management.
